While the world waits with bated breath for the next big thing to hit Corvettes (MR drivetrain in the ZORA, anyone?), it’s videos like this one from G-Force Motorsports that remind us to take joy in the things we have right now–namely, a killer ZR1 being put through its paces on a Dynojet dynamometer.

G-Force Motorsports, a tuning shop out of Pearland, Texas, has seen its fair of top-notch performance machines roll in and out of the garage over the years. The establishment is now entering its fourteenth year of being in business, and has had a hand in modifying or otherwise enhancing cars and trucks from Ford, GM, and Chrysler.

ZR1_1Part and parcel of the shop’s success has been in the use of the Dynojet Research 248X dynamometer. We spoke with one of GFM’s reps, Robert Ramon, who was able to enlighten us on both the Corvette and the dyno as well.

“That dyno has been with us since day one,” said Ramon. “It’s a vital part of how we do our work, and we’ve been able to rely on it year after year to do what we ask. The video we posted here was about a customer’s 2009 ZR1. His name is TJ McKinny, and he’s owned it for about two years, calls it ‘ZR187’ because it’s completely black, or ‘murdered out,’ as they say.”

With a proven output–which we’ll get to in a little bit–this ZR1 is by no means a stock vehicle. “Greg Good did some mean motor modifications here,” explained Ramon. “Trick Flow heads, Kooks headers, Injector Dynamics fuel injectors, a custom CAM MOTION camshaft, Manton pushrods, Lingenfelter snout and pulley kit; it’s all about performance.”

Strapped to the dyno to see what all these parts could produce, McKinny and the shop staff were excited to see the results: 900 hp and 830 lb-ft. of torque. Those numbers will surely go up even more once McKinny pulls the trigger on a nitrous kit, which, according to Ramon, has been on his mind for quite a while.

Things look good from every angle here–GFM provides the service, McKinny provides the fun, and Dynojet provides the measurements. Check out more by visiting Dynojet online, or give them a call with the provided contact information below.
