What is your dream muscle car? Most people will tell you some kind of combination of rear-wheel drive and big V8 horsepower, which makes for a fun daily driver if you live in the sunbelt. But for those of us stuck in states where snow is a regular occurrence, rear-wheel drive means sidelining our cars for several months a year. Ideally, a muscle car with power sent to all four corners would mean the best of both worlds.

Perhaps a car like this all-wheel drive, LS-powered Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme from the 1980s would suffice. It’s a unique work of automotive art that combines a modern drivetrain with Regan-era styling for a vehicle unlike any other.

The 1980s saw a resurgence of interest in the Oldsmobile brand, perhaps for the last time before GM decided it was better off without the company in its portfolio. The simple G-body styling of the Oldsmobile Cutlass remains timeless if you ask us though, and swapping in a modern and unique drivetrain is a natural next step.

Under the hood is a supercharged Lingenfelter LS2 engine, probably making close to 500 horsepower at the crankshaft. The stroked 403 cubic-inch engine sounds mean and, more importantly, a custom all-wheel drive system sends power to both the front and back wheels. This is a 1982 Oldsmobile unlike any other, and watching it rip 10-second quarter miles with all four wheels spinning is something we don’t imagine GM engineers ever envisioned. That’s what makes it so special.
