So, what exactly happens when you combine a plain-Jane Chevy work truck with a 408 stroker and 80mm turbo? You aren’t late for work anymore, that’s for sure! In this video uploaded to YouTube we find out that is precisely what the owner of this particular Z71 Silverado 4×4 decided to do.
With all of the mods on this sleeper of a truck, it is able to put down an extremely impressive 1,000 horsepower at the rear wheels (No AWHP number was reported). Some of that power supposedly gets to the ground through four drag radials, which don’t seem very good for traction, yet still power the truck to a 6 second 1/8th mile pass consistently with just over a 100 mph trap speed. If it weren’t for the sound of the cam, it would be hard to tell that the truck lining up next to you was about to smoke you.
After the owner of this truck is done dusting 90 percent of cars on the road today, he’ll go down to the hardware store, fill up the bed with lumber and most likely still have room left over for those who fell victim to his Silverado at the track. It’s sleepers like this that remind us that with enough ingenuity and imagination, anything can be made into a track beast.
