VIDEO: Watch this Supercharged Truck Do A Tandem Burnout

Ever have a friend who was always up for whatever you two could dream up? You know, the kind of friend you can look across the table at for hours, and neither one of you can give a good explanation of why you’re still alive. Any idea was enough to set the torches a-blazin’ and get to the fun part of the project! Now, imagine if that friend was your dad.

The guys try everything to try and get both axles to smoke straight, even adding ballast!

That’s pretty much the vibe we get as we watch this dynamic duo of Doug and Brad DeBerti trying to evenly wipe the life out of a set of FOUR 20-inch Michelins on the back of their tandem-axled Chevrolet C10 truck. That’s right, there’s more rubber on the back of this vintage Chevy than all the cars combined on your local Honda dealer’s showroom.

Of course, that all goes into white, stinky fluff when the Whipple-supercharged LSx engine by Chevrolet Performance goes to full song. As you likely already know from reading the headline, this engine pumps out 900 ponies, so makin’ a little smoke isn’t really all that difficult, even with four wheels churning out back.

The power for this tire-shredding hauler is a Chevrolet Performance LSx engine topped with a Whipple supercharger. Of course, with the DeBerti family well versed in whittling aluminum, you can bet there's a bunch of one-off pieces throughout this build. Check out those stacks!

What apparently DOES take a little bit of noodling, is getting both axle sets to play well together and keep one from flailing around like a rubber-scorched fish on a hot filet table. As the dad, Doug DeBerti states, “We should be happy to just drive it!” But, as we all know, what’s the fun in that? In this episode on Brad DeBerti’s YouTube channel, father and son are committed to making a quad-set of slicks out of those once perfectly-tread Michelins. In fact, that’s kind of the purpose of this truck. In another video, Brad shows the FIFTY SETS of Michelin 345/30-ZR20 tires destined for smoke thanks to this truck!

Smoke ’em if ya got ’em! Apparently, these guys built this truck for one thing!

But, before that happens, these guys need to figure out why one set of tires decides to become the second steering axle. In the video, you can see how much flexing is going on back there during a burnout. It looks pretty violent, and as Brad states in this video, something’s gonna break if they keep this up. As you look around the shop, you can tell these guys aren’t working with just a string and a hot-wrench. Their shop would be the envy of some dealerships. And, if the name DeBerti sounds familiar, it should. Doug started his own company building one-off, machined aluminum parts which grew into over 6,000 part numbers. Brad spends his time racing in NASCAR, off-road, rallycross, drifting, and whatever else he finds a seat in. Together the father and son team has been on the small screen in Spoolin’ Up With The DeBertis and TwinTurbos.

Did you ever fear having to come home and explain to your dad how that driveshaft wound up tossed out from under the vehicle? It appears that with the DeBertis, the conversation was more like, “Did you see that?!!!”

We’re not sure if the YouTube channel is a diversion or a division of their on-screen antics, but as you watch the video, you’ll have to agree that both father and son are having a LOT of fun trying to figure out this tire-hop issue. Check out this video, and any of the other vids Doug and Brad posted about their flat-black C10 Chevy truck. Then, go call your friend and fire up those torches!
