We’re pretty sure that the damage to this poor 5th Gen Camaro isn’t going to buff out, no matter how hard you rub. We found this video on YouTube of a crumpled beer can of a 5th Gen that is being “parted out” apparently at a swap meet. It’s pretty clear that there aren’t many “parts” left on this poor thing to go “out”, and yet a fair amount of people still seem to be swarming around the trailer, probably scheming on what they could possibly still use, or just gawking at the amount of damage. We sincerely hope that no poor soul was riding shotgun when this accident happened.
Now that the 5th Gen Camaro has been out on public roads for a few years and the high probability of inexperienced drivers getting in over their heads with a car like this, more and more of them are starting to pop up in salvage yards throughout the country. The obvious benefit of a 5th Gen reaching a sad end like the one in the video is the wide possibility for swapage with the LS3/TR6060 or L99/6L80E drivetrains. But what if you came across one that wasn’t quite so banged up, and might actually buff out? Do you think it would be worth the time and money to restore a wrecked 5th Gen, file for a salvage title, and motor on down the road?
