Want A Showroom-Fresh Pontiac G8 GXP?

If the G8 performance sedan was truly Pontiac’s swan song, this 108-mile G8 GXP is a high note that’s still echoing automotive excellence over 16 years later. Offered to the highest bidder on Bring a Trailer, this fully documented time capsule backs 6.2 liters of exquisite LS3 power with a clean CarFax, a clean California title, and plenty of 21st-century athleticism.

One-Owner California Car

Originally sold through Hardin Pontiac of Anaheim, California, this G8 has spent every year of its existence in the hands of one dedicated owner. The car’s smooth LS3 works well with an optional Tremec TR6060 6-speed. In typical GXP fashion, that transmission rides a Nurburgring-tuned FE3 Sport Performance Suspension that includes stiffer springs, re-valved dampers, a heavy-duty sway bar, and ventilated Brembo brakes. And power gets funneled through a factory limited-slip differential.

The (Not So) Common LS3

Judging by Bring a Trailer’s photos, the car’s engine looks just as clean as the day it left the showroom. Interestingly, while this engine did debut in the 2008 Corvette, Pontiac still beat the Camaro to market by one year with the G8 GXP–an example of just how dedicated enthusiasts within GM were to reviving the once iconic brand. In GXP guise, this legendary mill backs an easy 415 horsepower with a solid 415 lb./ft. of torque. That said, while this G8 is an extremely nice car, we believe a rebuild might be in order since the car has only logged TWO miles in the last 16 years.

Red Gauges Too!

Between the doors, heated and power-operated buckets stretch crisp Onyx leather amid weather-free door panels and clean Onyx carpet. Automatic dual-zone climate control keeps occupants happy while 11-speaker Blaupunkt audio keeps them rocking out. In front of the driver, a factory steering wheel laps requisite cruise control and exclusive red-trimmed telemetry that was standard on GXPs with silver paint.

An Authentic Maverick

Speaking of the car’s Maverick Silver Metallic paint, it feels like a majority of the roughly 2,000 G8 GXPs Holden produced feature this pigment. But that’s not a bad thing, since it does an excellent job of showing off the G8’s sleek profile, and specifically the GXP’s more aggressive front air dam and rear splitter. Those conservatively handsome aesthetics are enhanced by 19-inch chrome-finished wheels, which wear original Bridgestone tires.

As Pontiac’s final performance flagship, the G8 GXP has only grown more significant with time, and examples like this elevate the model to near-legendary status. With just 108 miles, single-owner provenance, full documentation, and an unmodified LS3/6-speed drivetrain, this GXP represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to own one of the cleanest surviving Zeta sedans ever built.
