After surviving the end of the world in 2012, NASCAR fans may witness the end of the sedan era in 2013. Rumors are flying that pony cars may be integrated into the sport’s top division.

Despite the choice not to compromise the bodylines of the car for the Nationwide series, GM may elect to use the Camaro in the Cup Series. “I’ll never say never,” said Pat Suhy, GM Racing’s NASCAR group manager.
Bow-tie lovers might be able to watch Jimmie and Jeff fight it out in Hendrick-powered Camaros depending on the requirements set forth by NASCAR. Hopefully, there will be give and take between the officials and the manufacturers. Fans will have to wait and see whether the Camaro will battle with the Dodge Challenger and the Ford Mustang.
Ford is open to the idea of running the Mustang at the Sprint Cup level. With the Dodge Challenger and the Ford Mustang already competing in the Nationwide series perhaps GM will be motivated to champion the Camaro at the next level.
Even though nothing is concrete at the moment, the implantation of a new nose and elimination of the splitter could signal a chance for the pony car wars in NASCAR.
