WVW: What Got This C3 In The Scrapyard–The Paint Or Missing Brakes?

14519496_1_IC3s are like the Roger Moore of Corvettes: they started off great, got a lot of attention, and made a great deal of money in the early years. The two even overlapped each other from 1973 to 1981. But for all the good they did, the brand each represented became more tired and stale as time went on, to the point that carrying the torch was all they became good for.

14519496_6_IOn the subject of torches, let’s take a look at this 1977 Corvette for WVW (Wrecked Vette Wednesday), sporting a paint job that’s equal parts unholy and unbecoming. One of our staff even commented on its McDonald’s-inspired quality, with red-orange flames stretching back into yellow that covers the rest of the body.

So here’s an interesting little factoid: red and yellow, when put together, have been shown in studies to induce hunger and increase appetite. That’s why you’ll notice them used by certain restaurants’ logos, like the aforementioned McDonald’s, as well as Wendy’s, In-N-Out, and Pizza Hut. When seen here, however, the only craving we get is to see this thing picked up and plopped into the nearest crusher.

Oh man...get a load of that coffee canister!

All bashing aside though, the Corvette does have some redeeming qualities. For one, it can still start the engine when asked to. And not only that, but it can also drive around, making it slightly more useful than the typical busted Vette found here on Insurance Auto Auctions (IAA).

14519496_5_INonetheless, this flaming sports car is brought down by the fact that its odometer has busted, and its brakes are out of commission too. You may be able to get places in this car, but they won’t be by your own design (unless you’re hankering to wind up in a ditch).

All told, we’re not so sure the car has a long future ahead of it, but we could be wrong. What do you think? Share your thoughts in a comment below.
