Dual quad carbon performance for your LS- or LT-powered hot rod? Absolutely! The folks at Performance Design used SEMA 2026 to officially showcase a Carbon Dual Quad intake manifold that’s compatible with 4150 or 4500 throttle bodies and either a Holley Hi-Ram base or the company’s own pTR base.

A Little Background

Performance Design has made a name for itself by combining cutting-edge engineering with an appreciation for good old-fashioned craftsmanship. Specializing in high-performance induction systems, the company designs and manufactures its products using carbon fiber, billet aluminum, and molded nylon components. The firm even developed its own in-house carbon-fiber molding processes, allowing greater control over quality and construction. But there’s more to the Performance Design philosophy than simply making horsepower. The company believes a properly engineered component should look just as impressive as it performs, without needing a fancy cover to hide it. That commitment to form, function, and meticulous hand assembly is evident throughout its entire lineup of induction products.

More Air, Less Heat

Designed for forced induction builds and serious naturally aspirated builds, Performance Design’s Carbon Dual Quad intake features a high-flow, dual throttle body configuration that delivers increased airflow and the lightweight, low heat soak characteristics the Carbon pTR architecture is already well known for. In addition to a material strategy that delivers up to twenty pounds of weight savings, the intake variant supports both 4150 and 4500 throttle bodies. Since it was primarily designed for competition and extreme performance, the intake is geared towards drag racing, high-RPM road racing, and extreme street applications.

What’s In The Build

Like the other variants of the Carbon pTR platform, the new dual quad intake features hybrid construction with a glass-reinforced nylon lower runner pack paired with a carbon fiber composite plenum. Compared to aluminum, this method improves structural rigidity, thermal isolation, and saves weight. The carbon fiber plenum is manufactured using multiple layers, a foam-core flange, and high-temperature epoxy. In addition to maximizing stiffness, this process minimizes mass and heat transfer to the intake charge. The polymer lower manifold isolates heat from the cylinder heads and conceals sensors and ports within the engine valley for a clean, professional installation.

While the carbon Dual Quad kit with pTR lower utilizes Performance Design’s short velocity stacks, the Carbon Dual Quad upper shell can be purchased separately and bolted to most LS or LT Holley Hi-Ram cast lowers. The Performance Design setup includes a 6.5-inch runner length, multiple MAP sensor locations, multiple NPT accessory ports for PCV, vacuum, and accessories, and provisions for port fuel injection with optional billet fuel rails. The intake also features a reversible intake orientation and nitrous nozzle bosses on each runner on both the outboard and valley side.

With its lightweight carbon fiber construction, dual throttle body configuration, and compatibility with popular LS and LT applications, Performance Design’s new Carbon Dual Quad intake brings serious performance potential to your next build. And let’s face it, there’s just something cool about a dual quad setup riding on top of a modern V8. Looking to make big horsepower while turning a few heads? Hit up the pros at Performance Design!
