PRT_DF_RESURRECTIONWe’ve had time to heal since the national wound was inflicted back in February, the day when the cavernous space of earth opened up and swallowed eight one-of-a-kind Corvettes without warning. Since that time, we’ve combed the problem back and forth, in and out trying to make sense of what happened. Having exhausted every free outlet for news and information about the sinkhole, now is the time to commemorate it with a few souvenirs.

The DVD on the sinkhole saga.

The National Corvette Museum‘s online Merchandise section has dedicated a section to purveying ten items relating to the unfortunate event, priced between $0.99-$100.00 and appealing to both sexes. The latest of these has been the definitive documentary DVD, which has a 58-second preview now posted to the museum’s YouTube channel.

The documentary is described as follows: “On February 12, 2014 at 5:39 a.m. the floor in the Skydome gave way, sending eight precious Corvettes plunging deep into the abyss of a sinkhole, burying many of them beneath several tons of concrete, dirt and stone. This video follows the story from those first tense moments, to the media storm that followed and thru to the careful recovery of each of the prized Corvettes.”

The DVD joins the pantheon of merchandise and swag currently for sale on the NCM website, among the ranks of “InSPIREd” Ladies’ Tees and even actual glass jars of dirt and rocks. If so motivated, you could easily swipe up one of each item for just under $200, and give them out to your friends and family to spread the joy of the museum’s rebuilding.

How about this fine jar of genuine sinkhole dirt and rock? Only $10.00!

It might mean holding off on a new car cover, though.
