While on a whirlwind tour of the fine state of Michigan, we had the opportunity to swing south and hook up with the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour mid-way along their journey at the Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
Over the years, the Power Tour has turned into a monster event, drawing hundreds upon hundreds of entries, many of whom are “long haulers” who take the entire week-long trip across multiple states, stopping each day at a new destination. At Norwalk, the main attraction was the world class dragstrip. Running a close second is the concession stand that sells a pound of ice cream for a buck.
Since we had a schedule to keep, and needed to be in Grand Rapids that evening, we weren’t able to spend the whole afternoon enjoying the sights and sounds of Power Tour. But even so, we did notice that everywhere you turned, there was an LS powerplant to be found. From late model cars that came factory equipped, to swapped muscle cars and custom street rods, and all points in between, it’s pretty clear that the modern Chevy small block is the most popular V8 on the planet right now.
