American muscle cars are highly sought after all over the world. Whether they be the classic originals or modern iterations, many people outside of North America have the desire to get behind the wheel of some V8-powered muscle machines. That said, tastes in car design are different in Europe than they are in America, and we’ve always wondered; if GM built a muscle car specifically for the Old World, what would it look like?
Well the Opel Enigma, as designed David Cardoso, might be exactly what Europe had in mind. Carscoop has pictures of this sleek-as-hell European take on the Chevy Camaro… and we think this muscle car could solve a lot of Opel’s woes.
It’s no secret that GM’s European units, Opel and Vauxhall, are suffering serious financial losses. Union woes and money-losing factories are just part of the problem; a stale lineup and uncompetitive cars is another. About the only bright spot in Opel’s lineup is (ironically) the Volt-based Ampera. Everything else is sort of drab and dull.
David Cardoso’s Enigma might be the solution. Based on the Chevy Camaro, the rear-drive, 4-passenger coupe has no chance of ever coming to production. But give it GM’s new 2.0 liter turbo, or the 312 hosepower V6 found in the base Camaro, and it might just be a hit with the kids. Reserve the V8 action for the Europeanized Camaro, with its LED tail lights and thin side view mirrors. The Opel Enigma’s futuristic look has a lot of appeal to us, but are you feeling it?
