PRI 2023: LME’s New 3,500-Plus HP Billet C8 LT2 Block

When you’re on the leading edge of LS and LT engine-building technology, there’s no time to be complacent. Late Model Engines (LME) has an excellent track record of LS and LT performance, and the company is on the gas with new products. Example: LME displayed its new billet C8 LT2 block at the 2023 PRI Show in Indianapolis, Indiana. This block is going to have the full attention of C8 customers, in part due to its potential for big horsepower.

Since 2003 LME has been working with the fastest performance shops and individuals in the industry. This has allowed the Texas-based custom engine machine shop to set records worldwide. LME maintains a fully equipped machine shop that includes multiple three-axis CNC block machining centers, Sunnen honing systems, a Hines electronic balancer, a SuperFlow flowbench, and a SuperFlow EFI engine dyno. Some of the company’s selling points include fast turnaround, high quality, and the use of innovative technology. The company offers long blocks and short blocks, as well as intake manifolds, front covers, valve covers, engine builder kits, and much more. But that’s not all. The company also offers complete engine builds. Want a 1,400 hp supercharged 427 LTX engine? LME has you covered.

LME has trotted out its new billet C8 LT2 billet block for the Corvette mid-engine platform. This piece of automotive bling is capable of supporting 3,500-plus horsepower. Yes, you read that right. The block is milled in-house and offers superior strength over cast blocks. Cooling is improved through a unique design where the area below the deck and around the cylinders is milled out, creating much larger coolant passages. A portion of the deck is then pressed into the block along with the cylinder sleeves. This allows the coolant to make contact with much more surface area around the cylinders for improved cooling. Another feature that LME worked into its block is the lifter valley oiling design. The factory secondary oil scavenge pump is retained and pulls oil from the valley through a duct that is part of the block

Billet C8 LT2 Block

The LME billet LT2 block is a game-changer for the C8 market. There are already owners pushing the platform very hard and we look forward to seeing the performance that can be gained using this block. Additionally, if you want an LME billet block but in a conventional front engine platform, they also have a Gen V LT1 billet block.
