3D Print Your Own Chevrolet Camaro LS3 V8 Engine

Every once and a while, we will stumble across something on the Internet that we find intriguing. Most of the time, the subject deals with cars, engines, events, or people. While this particular article does deal with an engine, it’s not your typical unit.

It’s safe to say that some of us have built several engines over the past few years, but there are some out there that are not as fortunate. Whether it be a lack of funds, tools, knowledge, or garage space, not everyone has the means to build an LS engine on their own. If you have ever wanted to build an engine in your living room but the wife won’t let you, we have found the solution.

MakerRx.com, offers several different engine packages that you can 3D print and build. Obviously, the LS3 is the best choice, but you can choose from an EJ20 Boxer, Ford Flathead, or the Mazda Rotary. All of the engines are realistic, and you can even purchase an engine stand to display your work of art.

You can choose from two kits for the LS3. The first one includes all the non-3D printed parts needed to assemble a scale working model such as fasteners, bearings, rods, springs, magnets, 500 RPM DC geared motor, speed controller, electrical connections and a power supply. The second kit includes the above with the addition of the 3D printing filament bundle which contains 1KG of Black, Gray, Red, and Yellow Spider Silk premium PLA.

According to MakerRx.com, this project was created by ericthepoolboy and was amazingly modeled from CAD files, photographs, specifications, and service diagrams, not a real engine. All of the proceeds will directly support Eric and his future creative endeavors.

It ‘s crazy how lifelike the little engine is setting on the stand. If we had the time (and a 3D printer), we would be constructing one of these engines as we speak. We would also print and install a ProCharger F-1X, Holley Hi-Ram, and add a direct nitrous system. On second thought, maybe it’s a good thing we don’t have a 3D printer at our disposal.
