Texas Speed & Performance is at it again and by it, we mean breaking more records. The Texas-based manufacturer opened their doors in 2003 and specializes in complete LS and LT builds as well as the manufacturing of CNC heads, cams, and more.

With over 30-plus combined years of experience specific to the LS and LT1 market, it’s no surprise that these guys know what they’re doing when it comes to the LS platform and they have a new record to prove it. On January 25, Texas Speed and Performance secured the record for the first naturally aspirated stock bottom end LS3 in the 8-second range.

Texas Speed loaded up their fifth-gen Camaro and headed out to Houston Raceway Park with one goal in mind, and that was to break into the 8s. The naturally-aspirated Camaro was armed with a Texas Speed and Performance custom spec solid roller cam, PRC 265cc small bore LS7 heads, and a Holley Performance Products Hi-Ram intake manifold. The tune for the Camaro was handled by non-other than Casey Rance of MailOrderTuner.com.

At the end of the day, the TSP fifth-gen was able to secure its place in history by being the first naturally aspirated stock bottom end LS in the 8s with an 8.963-second elapsed time at 148.85 mph. The Camaro went a 1.268 sixty-foot while achieving a 5.682 elapsed time in the eighth-mile.
