The CBS game show, The Price Is Right first aired back in 1972. Since then it has given away cash, scores of cars, TVs, and trips around the globe to lucky contestants who can navigate price-laden obstacles on their way to spin the big wheel.
Funny-man, Drew Carey replaced long-time running host Bob Barker in 2007, but this week the true stars are the cars which will be given away as part of the show’s Dream Car Week. Beginning on Monday, February 17, 2020, the show will give contestants the opportunity to win one of five dream cars, one per day, as they spin the big wheel during the show’s Showcase Showdown.
Monday’s score is a Maserati Ghibli. Tuesday brings a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet while Wednesday’s win will be a Lexus LC coupe. Thursday’s winner will have a chance at a full-sized Lincoln Navigator while the real winner will be on Friday when they get a chance to plant their posterior in a brand-new 2019 Corvette Stingray!
That’s right, if the price is right, the winner will get the keys to one of the last front-engine Corvettes to ever be produced. In true Chevrolet fashion, the C7 will be the lowest-priced Dream Car given away for that week, but those in the know will attest there’s more to a dream car than its price. For those trivia game show types, the most expensive car ever given away by the show was a BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition, won by a lucky participant back in 2014.
In this case, those 455 ponies still parked under the hood of this Corvette are still plentiful enough to keep that grin on the winner’s face, long after they’ve parked the car in their garage. Each year, CBS brings in a celebrity guest to help them win the show’s dream car during Dream Car Week. This year, Kurt Busch will be coming in, fresh from his running of the Daytona 500 race, which was delayed until Monday, February 17, 2020, the day Dream Car Week was scheduled to begin.
Thankfully, Kurt should be finished with his driving duties well before the Corvette comes up for grabs. We’ll have to see who gets the chance to win the Corvette and, if they’re lucky enough to bring it home. Either way, it should make for some good, clean, fun and the fact that there’s a C7 Corvette up for grabs just makes it that much more entertaining.
