One of the coolest LS swaps we saw last year at LS Fest East was Dustin Butler’s 2006 Lamborghini Murcielago. This Lamborghini was the 2,000th Murcielago to leave the plant to spend its life in California and then New Jersey. With only 12,240 miles on the odometer, the Lambo was totaled. Some of the parts were scrapped, and then the vehicle wound up on eBay, where Butler scooped it up.

The car arrived at Butler’s in three pieces. And as you can imagine, rebuilding a totaled Lamborghini would be extremely expensive and time-consuming. So, Butler decided to take some liberties with the wrecked supercar and save some money as well. In the end, Butler was able to reassemble the car but opted for a 2005 5.3-liter LS instead of the 6.2-liter V12 engine. While this may sound blasphemous to a Lamborghini owner, repairing the original powerplant would be around $60,000 to “make it right again.” With this in mind, the decision was made to LS swap the Murcielago for added reliability and lower maintenance cost.

About a week ago, we saw Garret Mitchell, aka Cleetus McFarland, the YouTube internet sensation, post that he was looking for a Lamborghini on his Facebook page. We then saw Butler attach a picture of his beautiful LS-swapped Lambo when McFarland said he would buy it if it were for sale. The writing was on the wall, so we asked Butler for the details. He told us the car was, in fact, sold and that he was delivering it to McFarland during TX2K.

So, what’s McFarland planning on doing with this LS-swapped Lambo? According to his Facebook page, he will give away to the winner of the Freedom 500 race on April 1, 2022. We’re just hoping this isn’t some April fools joke where Whistlin Diesel gets the car and immediately destroys it. But for that, we will have to wait and see.
