With a special thank you to Mike Yager and Mid America Motorworks (MAM) we are able to bring you live coverage from the 2014 Corvette Funfest, in Effingham, Illinois. On a typical day the beautiful grounds of MAM is the scenic “middle America” image you see above. Once a year however, the grounds are filled with the electricity of Corvette lovers and enthusiasts of all sorts, from all corners of the country and beyond.
Beginning Thursday September 18, the MAM grounds opened at 8:00 but really got rolling with the “Fun Run” around 4:30, which is one impressive Corvette parade… complete with “Save the Wave” foam hands. There have been so many amazing activities to choose from, that regrettably we just couldn’t make them all. In fact, there are often multiple events taking place in each time slot amongst the different venues, so there is surely something happening to catch your interest.
One of the “domes” that has been bustling from the start is the Install Dome which has several lifts in operation for onsite installs of exhaust systems, wheel and tire packages, accessories and even… door hinge modifications.
The immersion in the Corvette culture has been great, only surpassed by all the wonderful people we have met so far. There has been so much to see, but there is much to explore in the coming days. Saturday will be an action packed V8 day, followed by a rocking concert with 38 Special.
In the week to follow, Corvette Online will publish a full event coverage recap, and we cannot wait to share our experiences with all of you. If you were not able to go, or have never been, you must do yourself and a favor and put it on your calendar… and preferably make the trip in your Corvette!
