The amount of cars found on eBay is pretty incredible. While there seems to be a growing number of Corvettes also available, the amount of second generation cars seems to be getting smaller as of late– at least from what we have seen.
Luckily we found this gorgeous, 1966 C2 in Corvette Online’s home state of California. The owner reports that the car was in Arizona for over 20 years, and was in California before that. The car has been meticulously maintained throughout the last 13 years, under the wrench of the seller.
The car is not numbers matching, though it does maintain a period correct-327 cubic inch V8 that puts out a respectable 350 hp. The seller also said that the car has original chrome valve covers, a Posi-traction rearend, and a four-speed transmission.
We thought the car looks very unmolested, yet it has been equipped with several components that both improve the drivability of the car and its performance. To start with, the car was outfitted with a new master cylinder and brake booster, hard brake lines with stainless extensions, a full set of Wilwood four-piston brake calibers and performance pads. That should really help bring that 350 hp to a stop!
With performance in mind, the seller added a new set of long tube headers, 17×8″ Torque Thrust wheels finished in raw, polished aluminum, and a Dewitt aluminum radiator. Recently a new rear main seal was installed, along with a transmission output seal and pinion input seal in the rear differential.
The current owner also included the following bits of information in his listing:
- New speedometer cable, new fuel tank sending unit and new cooper line for the oil pressure sending unit. My mechanic suggested this to replace the plastic line to the gauge.
- New rear cross member rubber bushings.
- The only other thing I was going to do to the car was replace the white top which can be done for approx. $400.
- I just looked at the interior gauge picture and it looks like there is a crack in the speedo gauge. There is no crack. All the gauges are in great shape.
- Included in the sale are the original brake calipers, knock-off hub caps and steel rims.
While this car is certainly not an award winning original, or a fully custom tire roasting torque monster, we really found it to just be cool. There is something to be said for making a few custom touches to your ride, and simply enjoying it for what it was designed to do.
Currently the car is listed at $45,500, though there are 19 days left to go so we’d assume the price is sure to go up. It looks to be a clean, rust free car so we wouldn’t hesitate to bid pending an inspection.
If you feel like you just can’t live without this car, and we couldn’t blame you if that’s the case, click here and check out the listing to make a bid.
