LS Fest West is coming up quick, and we are super excited to take part in Holley’s renowned LS based event. On May 2, 2019, LSX Magazine will be hosting our third annual cruise which will take us to the Valley of Fire State Park, and you can read more about that here. However, we are not the only ones with a cruise on our mind for LS Fest West. That crazy group over at Furches Performance has their own cruise lined out. Well, really it’s more of a road trip, and a hell of one at that.
You might remember an article with a wicked front wheel drive Monte Carlo SS that we featured at the first of the year. That car belongs to Brandon Furches owner of Furches Performance up in Ludlow, Massachusets. The killer 800 horsepower turbo LS4-powered Monte is on a mission and headed to LS Fest West. However, the car will not be on a trailer, Brandon plans to drive the car 3,410 miles from Massachusetts all the way to Las Vegas. This trip will take 52 hours if everything goes according to plan while making some pretty cool stops along the way.
Brandon is planning on stopping at Fragola Performance Systems, Turn 14 Distribution, Sloppy Mechanics, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels, GM Heritage Center, The Automotive Hall of Fame, Bullseye Power Turbochargers, and Brian Tooley Racing (BTR). Brandon says, “Each stop is going to feature a vlog with coverage of the facilities as well as short interviews with staff and owners. This will all be very raw, no advertisements, no click bait, just actual coverage with a behind the scenes insight.”
Along the way Brandon is planning on getting a dyno-tune at Sloppy Mechanics, recreating his grandfather’s photo at the Automotive Hall of Fame, donate an unopened video training real from 1956 to the GM Heritage Center, and even picking up a customers turbocharger from Bullseye. But that’s not all the crew is planning on doing. When they finally make it to LS Fest West, the goal is to make the front wheel drive Monte to go as fast as possible while resetting the front wheel drive record. Brandon doesn’t want just to set the record by a tenth of a second. He wants to destroy it.
We will find out if Furches Performance can make the road trip and reset the record in just a couple of weeks as they head down that lonesome highway. You can keep tabs on them via Furches Performance Facebook Page or YouTube channel. If you see them rolling down the road give them a thumbs up, we’re sure they will appreciate it.
