The New GTSR and GTSR Maloo
Holden has decided to send off their legendary Commodore with a bang. By ‘bang’ we mean 3 different limited-edition versions– two of which are the GTSR Sedan and the GTSR “Maloo” ute.
The best part about each of these new 2017 models, is the fact that they are fitted with a 6.2-liter supercharged LSA V8. But, the brand new black alcantara interior is quite impressive, too, and it now features an Enhanced Driver Interface; keeping performance data, RPMs, g-forces, and driver inputs available at all times.
While the sedan rides on Magnetic Ride Control, the Maloo is still stuck with basic performance suspension. The cars’ exterior is upgraded with wider front fenders and an overall lower stance. In our opinion, the stealthy Hyper Dark Stainless Panorama wheels, new rear spoiler, and lower diffuser make for quite a menacing vibe.
The GTSR Maloo will be limited to roughly 670 production vehicles at $73,440 USD and the Sedan will be slightly more expensive, starting at $82,905, and will be limited to 1,300.
The Long Awaited GTS-R W1
As we all know, the official announcement of the GTSR W1 has been long awaited. After countless rumors, spy photos, and arguments across the web… as of this morning, there is no more need for guessing. It’s official and, well, we must say– it’s quite badass.
HSV is claiming the GTSR W1 is their “road-legal race-car,” taking the legendary GTSR platform to its most powerful and most impressive final form. In addition to the obvious 20-inch matte black alloy wheels, W1 badging, and Aeroflow spoiler, its fitted with sporty carbon fiber details throughout the exterior and engine bay. Inside: gorgeous diamond stitched alcantara with “W1” marked on the headrests.
Now, the part you all are waiting for: what’s packed under the hood– a 6.2-liter supercharged LS9 pushing a whopping 635 horsepower. We can only imagine the exhilarating ride the unique SupaShock suspension, bi-modal twin exhaust, Tremec 6-speed transmission, and the top-of-the-line brakes make for. But, seeing as how it’s in a different country and there is only going to be 300 produced, chances are we won’t ever get to be behind the wheel of one of these babies. With this rarity, comes a hefty price tag. $128,750 USD, to be exact.
HSV’s ’30 Year Range’
After reading about the GTSR W1, Sedan, and Maloo, there’s no doubt that Holden is surpassing our expectations for their 30-year celebration. The GTS, Clubsport R8 LSA, R8 Tourer LSA, Maloo R8 LSA, and Senator Signature remain generally the same models as the previous years, but they definitely didn’t go untouched.
For the 30 year range, each vehicle received a boost of 13 horsepower/15 lb-ft of torque, torque vectoring technology, new front and rear bumper designs, new side skirts and bonnet vents, the bi-modal exhaust system, and of course–unique 30-year badging throughout the interior and exterior. The old GTS’ AP braking system is now available as an option for the remainder of the vehicles, along with new exterior paint choices such as “Spitfire” green, “Light My Fire” orange, and “Sun of a Gun” grey.
The 30-year range has already entered production and will be at dealerships soon.
