Not many cars can boast the fact that they wear the Dale Earnhardt, Sr. name, but when they do, it’s best to pay attention. Dale Sr. was a GM man his entire life, and his treatment of these special F-body Camaros was no exception.
This example, found on Bring A Trailer, is currently available for auction (and has just a few days left on the docket). This particular model is #74 of the 83 special edition 2001 Camaro SS Intimidator models produced, and it boasts an ultra-low 3,200 original miles on its odometer.
If you’ll recall, these unique Intimidator Camaro SS examples were sold only at Dale Earnhardt’s dealership in the early 2000s.
Naturally, Dale knew the 5.7-liter LS1 V8 powering the standard Camaro SS was a brute of its own, but Dale upped the ante in the Intimidator to nearly 400 HP (381 to be exact) off the showroom floor. Paired with a TREMEC six-speed manual transmission, #74 was purchased in California by its original owner, where the car has resided its entire life.
What makes #74 unique – apart from other Intimidator examples – is that it was ordered without T-tops, which was originally a very common option back in the early 2000s. Moreover, the roof panel has been said to been repainted to due the original paint bubbling, and the original tires have now been replaced with more modern Goodyear Eagle F1 tires on all four corners.
