Inevitably, the longer the C7 is around, the more body kits for the car reach production. While purists may resent aftermarket alterations to the car’s already-gorgeous styling, there’s something to be said about the versatility of the car’s appearance. From over-the-top, flashy kits – like the chrome-gold C7 on Forgiatos or Car Porn Racing’s ‘Black Manta’ – to more mild, performance-oriented designs – like the Lingenfelter package and Kelly Fromm’s Stingray – the 7th-gen ‘Vette has seen a diverse lineup of style modifications so far.
One of the latest of these to hit the market is a clean, neoteric design from Ivan Tampi Customs. The kit saw its debut just two months ago at SEMA 2015, and is set for its limited edition run of 100 units beginning later this month.
Ivan Tampi, the company’s owner and mastermind, has been in the business of re-styling cars for 16 years. In the past, Tampi worked with Ford Motor Company, transforming their vehicles for promotional purposes. That, coupled with his extensive work in the import market where he got his feet wet, has led to his history and experience styling cars.
More recently, Tampi has begun venturing towards the elite spectrum of cars with Ivan Tampi Customs. The second of the company’s current line of body kits, the widebody C7 design (dubbed the ‘XIK Widebody Kit’) is really a step in the right direction towards his more exotic aspirations.
The kit plays off of the already-prominent body lines present on the C7, drastically widening the car and giving a sleek but more aggressive look. It’s a 14 piece kit made using carbon fiber composite and polyurethane, and includes the following: new front bumper, front bumper bottom spoiler, 2″-wider front fenders, side skirts, 4″-wider rear quarters, rear spoiler wing, rear bumper and rear bottom splitter.
Each of the 100 kits is made to order and includes its own certification of authenticity. So if you’re looking to take your C7’s head-turning capabilities to the next level, consider the XIK widebody kit from these guys. Tampi’s been in the business for some time now, and this is one of the cleanest widebody kit’s available.
