Leopard, Cheetah, or Jaguar–It’s a 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

$_57-8Before you get ready to submit a bid, we must first let you know that the eBay auction for this…one of kind C3, has sadly come to and end. Fortunately, the car has not been sold and simply did not hit its reserve, leaving the opportunity for any of you to be the proud owner of this 1971 Chevrolet Corvette T-Top coupe. This car comes with a manual gearbox, tilt-steering, a 350 ci V8, and currently has around 96,000 miles on the odometer.

So, let’s address the 13 ton, pink elephant in the room–the damn car has spots. These days most eccentric artwork and color schemes are handled by utilizing special adhesive coverings known as “wraps” of which your imagination is the only boundary. That being said, this is no wrap. According to the car’s owner, the color scheme was painted on by hand in the mid-1990s.

The seller felt the following points were worth listing in regards to specifics and condition.

  • Lights and wipers work OK.
  • Odometer broke at 95949 miles. There are probably another 10,000 miles on it.
  • $_57-9Put in a tilt steering wheel, CB  cassette radio. Center arm rest (usually broken in many old vets) was replaced with a metal custom piece.
  • Carpet looks new, replaced a few years ago.
  • Both manual windows work fine. All glass including pop out back window, is in good shape.
  • It looks good with a nice interior.
  • Was in one accident while I owned it. Just had minor cracks. That’s when I had  the body completely looked over and restored where needed. Doors close solid with no sags. The body is fine. It has a 1975 front end and that was how I purchased it. I preferred the longer appearing nose.

The seller wrote, “First off, the car drives fine. I have taken care of the parts of the car that needed repairs at the times needed, including any body work underneath. The door panels and seats have a couple of cracks, though not bad. The battery and odometer gauge don’t work. The pop-out rear window needs a new latch. If interested, I can provide a list of 40 years of repairs and improvements.”

$_57-6Additionally the seller had the following things to say about this one-of-a-kind ’71 Vette. “This one of a kind glossy beauty was hand painted in 1996 by an artist in Sarasota, Florida. I guarantee that any show you put this in, everyone will look at this car. NO DECALS HERE! I’v owned this eye cathcher for 40 years. I don’t really want to part with it, but I am disabled and don’t drive it much anymore. The last seven or eight years I’ve driven it just a few times int he summer and started it monthly in the winter. Strictly my good weather car that drives fine but needs new tires and some TLC.”

The car topped out at $6,600 which was not enough to surpass whatever the owner thinks the car is worth, per his chosen reserve. Either others bid on the car, so apparently there is some interest out there however slight. Much like the “Pizza C3” and other we have found, this car just goes to prove the old saying, “to each their own” and hopefully this car will find a new owner to cherish it soon.
