The race track can be a perfect laboratory to develop speed parts. If aftermarket components can stand up to the rigors of racing, then there is little doubt that they will thrive on the street. Race series like the Pirelli World Challenge Series are also an ideal place for aftermarket companies to show off how well their speed goodies can perform.
This is a formula that LG Motorsports has been using for decades to develop some of the most advanced components for late model Corvettes and Camaros. In fact, owner Lou Gigliotti raced in the World Challenge throughout the 1990’s and racked up some pretty impressive stats while he was at it. His accolades include 108 starts, 23 wins, 26 pole positions, and claiming Drivers’ Championships in 1991, 1992, and 1996.
Last year, LG returned to the World Challenge Series, and had a very respectable season with their 5th Gen Camaro in the GTS Class. Just a few days ago LG let us in on the news that not only will they be returning in 2013 with Lou Gigliotti manning the Camaro in the GTS class, but they will be expanding their World Challenge team to include a C6 Corvette in the GT class. Gigliotti’s co-pilot will be veteran driver Tomy Drissi. Drissi’s resume includes a 2009 Drivers’ Championship in the Trans-Am racing series, and regularly spending time behind the wheel of a Prototype in the ALMS.
