Lingenfelter’s CTS-V SuperCar: Not Your Grandma’s Caddie

What American luxury car produces roughly 200 horsepower more than a V12 BMW 7 series for $60,000 less? Which lavish sport sedan/coupe has more horsepower than a Hellcat Challenger and can seat four people comfortably? The answer is Lingenfelter Performance Engineering’s modified CTS-V. No, you can’t just walk into a dealer and get one, but they can create one for you … and their results are remarkable.

It all starts with Cadillac’s flagship performance sedan, the CTS-V. For good reason, automotive enthusiasts like Jay Leno have coined the late model Cadillac the “four door Corvette”. Bone-stock from the showroom floor, it produces an impressive, class-leading 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque. It wasn’t that long ago that such numbers were unheard of in a sports car, much less a luxury sport sedan. As good as the CTS-V is in stock form, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering taps into its unused potential using their mechanical artistry, massaging the eight-cylinder LT4 platform to a beastly 800 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque!

The Lingenfelter treatment gets you their CNC ported/polished LT4 cylinder heads and throttle body mated to an Edelbrock TVS2300 supercharger with K&N air filter producing increased boost. The stock camshaft is upgraded to Lingenfelter’s GT35 LT4 hydraulic roller camshaft with phaser limiter. Internals are strengthened with heavy duty .080-inch wall pushrods, ultra-light solid stem titanium 2.13-inch intake valves and sodium-filled steel 1.59-inch diameter exhaust valves to dissipate the increased heat, while a multi-angle valve job maximizes air flow. Also included are dual valve springs, titanium retainers, and 10-degree locks. Managing all that exhaust flow is American Racing’s 1 7/8-inch longtube headers and high flow cats. At the crank bolts a wet sump LT4 harmonic balancer with 9.17-inch diameter balancer pulley to minimize vibration.
Electronically, the ECM is custom programmed (package deletes active fuel management and variable cam timing system) and an electronic fuel pump voltage booster keeps up with the added fuel demand while NGK iridium IX spark plugs improve cylinder combustion. Owners receive their own handheld diagnostic and programing tool, as well.
Their turnkey package generally requires 6-8 weeks and includes 2 years/24,000 mile warranty on added components. Dyno testing is done pre- and post-installation. Each Lingenfelter receives an extensive full cleaning/detailing and specialty Lingenfelter badging, with four wheel alignment and a tank of 93 octane gas before being returned to its extremely satisfied customer.
Supercars on notice.
