The 2012 Optima Faceoff Challenge has been taking the country by storm. It’s been making various stops throughout the country, and has been collecting entrants along the way for the upcoming Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational. We’ve been giving the event more press in the last two weeks than any other form of motorsport, and rightfully so. It’s one of the hottest competitions running right now.
Just last Thursday, we told you about the most recent winner’s who were selected for the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational, and there have been more developments since then. We just got word this morning that Lingenfelter’s own 2010 “L/28” Camaro has taken home the gold in the BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge, where it posted a 1:39.412 lap time while reaching speeds in excess of 148MPH and pulling 1.35G’s in the corners – simply amazing numbers.
But the story doesn’t stop there. The car’s driver, Danny Popp, also managed to take the lead for overall points (74) giving him the overall winner’s title for the event, and making him a participating member of the upcoming Invitational.
For those of you wondering, the L/28 has been spec’ed out with LPE-prepped 427ci crate engine and 9.5-inch rear axle, as well as a built Tremec 6-speed transmission, Pedders Suspenion “Justice Package” that includes coil-over struts, sway bars, and bushings. A set of Brembo brakes and Forgeline wheels wrapped in sticky Goodyear rubber round out the package. We’ll continue to monitor the event and bring you the latest developments in future news, so stay tuned!
