Preparations are underway for this year’s Corvette Fun Fest in Effingham, Illinois on September 15-18th, 2016.
On January 6th, 1997, Corvette Engineers, Chevrolet Executives, and Mike Yager, Chief Cheerleader for Mid America Motorworks, unveiled the next generation of America’s Sports Car: The Corvette C5.
In honor of such a historical event, Corvette Fun Fest 2016 will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the introduction of the Corvette C5.
The theme for the 2016 Corvette Fun Fest is “Corvette Evolution: From C5 Concept to Completion.” A special display will chronicle the Corvette journey from concept to production models, including the CERV 4b, C5 Alpha-build, and C5 Beta-build Corvettes, as well as the C5 Z06.
“The C5 Corvette continued the forward momentum that the C4 brought back to the brand. We are looking forward to recognizing this important generation as one of the big chapters in Corvette’s impressive history,” said Mike Yager.
Two other significant Corvette events will coincide with Corvette Funfest 2016. The “Solid Axle Corvette Club” will host its Annual Convention on the week leading up to Corvette Funfest.
Also, the “Grand Sport Registry” is inviting all Grand Sports to the 20th Anniversary celebration of the 1996 Grand Sport during Corvette Funfest.
The four-day weekend celebration will also feature Expert Seminars, Celebrity Choice Awards, product demonstrations, great food and activities, headlining entertainment, and Corvettes as far as the eye can see, according to Mid America Motorworks.
As we have for the past years, Corvette Online will be there to cover the events and bring you up-to-date information, and we will continue bringing you updates as we countdown to September 13-16th, 2016. If you are interested in attending or registering for the event, visit the 2016 Corvette Fun Fest website for more information.
