The internet has become the swap meet of the world. If you want it, chances are good you can find it there. High Volts Racing has posted this Millenium Yellow monster on Racing Junk’s website. While this race-prepared 2002 Z06 can’t get you the years of driving experience required to put all your competitors in the rearview mirror, it can give you a platform to show off all your driving prowess. Designed and built specifically to run NASA ST-2, the car is fast and reliable and has been maintained by a professional race team after each outing.
As you can see, much of the original car has moved on, and the car’s dry weight ranges somewhere around 3,125 pounds. Built to accommodate a 250-pound driver with an additional 31 pounds of ballast, the ad states it needs nothing but a new driver and is ready to go racing tomorrow.
Clearly, this is not the typical tired and worn racing chassis. The car was originally turned into the racing beast you see here, back in 2010. But, meticulous post-race inspections by the team and a recent refresh kept the yellow rocket’s performance and appearance top-notch. The attention to detail and the fact that the car just recently received a complete frame-off rebuild performed by F.A.S.T Auto Racing of Maspeth, New York in 2018, shows this car was built to compete with the best. Its track record shows it was pretty good at doing just that as well! Check out this video and take this race-ready C5 Z06 for a test ride!
Running in NASA’s ST-2 class, the car finished in Second place in the Northeast region in both 2018 and 2019. The ad describes this yellow opportunity as both “fast” and “reliable,” and there’s even an offer of track-side support for the car’s next owner. What doesn’t get transferred to the next hot shoe are all the sponsors and graphics worn by the car previously. You’ll have to work on those yourself, but the car is a blank-slate, and history shows it as quite capable of catching a sponsor’s eye.
The car’s current owner is moving up to Trans-Am racing. Like many of us, space has become a premium, so he’s offering this turn-key opportunity to a fun-filled ride to the winner’s circle for $65,000. If you’ve got the space and the cash, you can put this professionally race-prepped 2002 Z06 in your garage. If you’ve got the talent, you can ride it to the podium!
