With the popularity of the LS engine and LS swaps, more and more companies are investing time and resources in the market. In the past, car manufacturers like General Motors were about the only way to get a crate engine that would make a decent amount of dependable power. Now, as more companies get involved, we are starting to see powerful powerplants with warranties, giving consumers more options for their projects.
Reviva has over 70-years of experience with both diesel and gasoline-powered engines and is now offering LS-based powerplants for the performance enthusiast that is looking for something a little different from the standard crate engine. All of its high-performance LS mills are fully dyno-tested and built using the robust LQ4 cast-iron block for ease of configuration and durability. A tuned PCM and engine harness are also available for a simple plug-and-play installation. You can choose from the company’s 450, 525, or 600 horsepower, naturally aspirated, pump-gas combinations.
While Reviva offers its 450 and 525 horsepower options, we were extremely interested in the 600 horsepower engine. According to the company, the 6.7-liter 408 cubic-inch powerplant will make 600 horsepower at 6,400rpm and 580 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. This engine produces a choppy idle, borderline vacuum for power brakes, and is perfectly happy on 91-octane fuel.
