A few weeks ago, the SoCal Chevy SS Club held its fall meet at Glendora Chevrolet in the city of Glendora, California about 40 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. We happened to come across the club and its show announcement on our Facebook feed one day, and decided to make the trip from our Burbank office tower to check out the show.
Jumping into our SS sister car, the Pontiac G8 GT, we were really looking forward to attending the show which was closely focused on one of GM’s greatest—and currently only—LS-powered four-door cars. We figured it was going to be a super cool show and we were not disappointed.
As the club’s Facebook page outlines, its shows have been steadily increasing in size. They started with just five cars at the first show. This latest get-together saw more than 50 cars in attendance, which included two other G8s in addition to ours and a few late-model Pontiac GTOs as well.
You will want to check out the extensive photo gallery we included here as well as a quick video we shot that also provides a cool overview of the cars on the Glendora Chevrolet grounds that day.
Some of the cars worth noting included some unusual colors like one example in what we believe is 2015-only Alchemy Purple and another in rarely seen Jungle Green. Other cars in attendance included several from all over the region that came from Northern California and Las Vegas. The long-distance award went to Bill Holden (same spelling as Holden in Australia) who drove his white SS all the way from Virginia.

Several modified cars were also in attendance including some with superchargers and a very nice blue one owned by Tiana Web that, when the nitrous is armed, runs in the 10s at 125 mph.
All in all, it was a very cool show and future dates can be looked up on the club’s Facebook page. You can bet we’ll probably be there again to check out all the great iterations of Chevy’s modern-classic LS3-powered, high-performance sedan.
