SPEC Clutches Offers A Gold Mine Of Performance Clutch Conversions

Although automobile manufacturers offer a tremendous amount of customization for their vehicles, many auto enthusiasts understandably want to perform more tweaks. One of the common modifications is a conversion.

Regardless of the scope of one of these projects, it’s essential for individuals to do research and find out about the possibilities. They shouldn’t get too deep into that exploratory process without seeing what conversion clutches are available from SPEC.

What’s a Conversion?

The term “conversion” gets thrown around often enough. We will define it perhaps a little different here, involving an engine swap, so a car’s build is no longer representative of the parts the original manufacturer put inside the vehicle. While most swaps typically use a full GM powertrain, such as an LSX engine paired with a T-56 transmission. However, this does not constitute a conversion per say (as SPEC would define it). LS conversions for Porsches, for example, typically involve the OEM transmission and then some sort of adapter bellhousing.

SPEC Is a One-Stop Shop for Conversion Kits

Something frequently difficult about shopping for car parts online is that it’s not always easy for people to find what they need in one place. They could easily spend hours going to various sites, only to see that the available inventory is not sufficiently broad enough to include the necessary parts.

Fortunately, shoppers should not expect that problem when browsing at the SPEC site. It has thousands of parts, and the section of the website for conversions has an impressive assortment. It’s easy to use, as well. First, the drop-down list shows the conversion kits available. Visitors click one that seems interesting to them, then select the Continue button to confirm the choice.

The next screen shows any available specialty options for a conversion clutch kit. For example, the flywheel is a part of the clutch kit and an essential part of the equation that connects to the engine and stores rotational energy. Pairing the proper flywheel to your clutch is essential to not only performance but street manners as well. At SPEC, it’s possible to pick various kinds of metal for flywheels, such as steel or aluminum.

If a person is cost-conscious, they can specify that they do not need a flywheel. That decision lowers the overall cost of the conversion kit.

There are performance kits available for many of the conversion sets, too. Those allow people to pick the desired torque capacity, which is generated by a clutch that’s slipping or fully closed. Other purchase options available at SPEC include specialty products to enable infinite rebuilding or increasing the power and throttle response.

It’s Easy to Get Help

For people who haven’t handled clutch conversions before or would appreciate some guidance before going through the purchase process at SPEC, they only need to make a phone call or start an online chat. Company representatives even encourage people to reach out to its team of technicians and experts for assistance before they buy.
