Survivor Collection Bringing Bloomington Gold Corvettes to Mecum

Owning a survivor car can mean many different things, but when it comes to Bloomington Gold standards, owning a Survivor Certified Corvette is one of the most coveted accomplishments a classic Corvette owner can achieve.

That’s what makes the Survivor Collection of Corvettes set to hit the auction block at the Mecum Anaheim auction next month so special. These three Corvettes have all been given Bloomington Gold Survivor awards and could all be yours for an amazing addition to any collection.

Being sold by three different sellers, the pair of 1967 Corvettes and lone 1969 model have all been certified to Bloomington Gold Survivor standards, meaning that each car is at least 20 years old, can pass a 20-mile road test, remains over 50-percent original, unrestored, unaltered or un-refinished, and maintains finishes good enough to be used as color guides for other Corvette restoration projects.

To achieve Survivor status, each Corvette goes through a rigorous screening process and must possess the best of the best original features to be certified.

For three such Corvettes to cross the block at one auction is incredible.

The first 1967 Corvette being sold had the same owner from 1967 to 2010. Only on its second owner, this car features the potent L71 427/435hp Tri-Power engine as well as a four-speed manual transmission which have taken the car just 36,188 original miles. Drawing looks wherever it goes, this C2 Corvette maintains its rare Marina Blue exterior finish with original white soft top, complete with factory instruction tag, and a Bright Blue interior. The car even comes with full documentation, including the tank sticker still on the tank, and the factory Protect-O-Plate.

The second 1967 Corvette being offered is just as special, if not more so. As a special-order car originally purchased by Dr. Louis J Roussalis, this Corvette is the only 427/435hp-equipped convertible to have ever been finished in Sunfire Yellow with a White interior. As a special-order car, this Corvette was highly optioned from the factory, receiving features like Soft Ray tinted glass, power windows and headlamps, a telescopic wheel, shoulder harnesses, head rests, side exhaust, a Black vinyl auxiliary hard top and the special F41 suspension system. It also received a four-speed manual transmission. Fully documented with the factory Protect-O-Plate, tank sticker and warranty book, this Bloomington Gold Survivor with just 39,833 miles on it will make an amazing collector-worthy pleasure car.

The last, but certainly not least, Corvette being sold in the Survivor Collection is billed as the most highly optioned and fully documented L88 car to exist. Finished in Le Mans Blue, this fine C3 convertible features its original L88 427/430hp engine and matching four-speed manual transmission. The car also maintains its original shocks and exhaust, as well as most of its original paint. Other options this car boasts include tinted glass, an auxiliary hardtop, Posi-Traction rearend, heavy duty J50/J56 power brakes, audio alarm and F41 suspension system.

Even more special than being one of just 116 L88 Corvettes made in 1969, this Corvette has been inducted into the Bloomington Gold Special Collection three times, achieved Bloomington Gold Survivor status, and was even inducted into the Bloomington Gold Hall of Fame – a task only accomplished by five other L88 Corvettes.

The three Survivor Collection cars would make amazing additions to any Corvette, Chevy or classic car collection.
