Aston Martin. Say it out loud. It’s fancy, right? This 1987 Vantage Volante just happens to have some fancy American engineering under the hood and we love it.
It’s definitely not the first car we’d think about dropping an LS into, but it actually works perfectly. There’s only one photo showing what’s going on under the hood, but from what we can see, the LS3 looks like a great fit. The seller even brought Aston Martin branding under the hood onto the engine cover, which has a Magnusson blower peeking out from it.
The seller claims the car makes 650 horsepower and that it’s documented. We don’t doubt that, being that the owner lives in Beverly Hills and most likely had the money to get it tested on the dyno. The wheels have custom Aston Martin center caps on them but they’re HRE 501 Vintage series wheels, and they look somewhat similar to the wheels the car came with back in the day. Another good thing about the car is interior and convertible top – they’ve both been replaced during the restoration.
The seller also stated that since the engine swap, the car has only been driven 200 miles. Overall, the odometer records a mere 35,000 miles. $150,000 will get you the supercharged LS3-powered Aston Martin Vantage Volante, but is it worth it? Considering that the majority of Vantage Volantes for sale are around $190,000 in great condition, this GM-powered example seems like a good deal for whoever has the money to play with. All we need now is video of this baby on the road and we’ll be happy. For more photos, check out the listing here.
