If you’re anything like your author, you may think that the LS engine series can and should be put into everything that has wheels. Today, we bring you an LS swap that isn’t all that uncommon, but usually ends up being bad-ass none the less. This case is no exception.
What you see in the video appears to be your everyday, run of the mill Nissan 240SX with a set of fancy wheels. However, upon cranking up the volume, you hear that oh so sweet exhaust note and probably begin to realize that this apple has fallen pretty far from its Japanese tree.
In fact, this sports car, like many others, has ditched its old power plant in favor of the familiar LS1. When a cam and set of heads are added to the 5.7, the car makes a respectable 422 wheel horsepower on the dyno. These mods in combination with the light weight body are able to muster up a quite impressive high 11-second pass.
While most Japanese car scene supporters will tell you that this swap is a terrible form of blasphemy, they need to understand that that’s exactly the way we like it. The swap versatility and accessibility of modifications as seen in this car are a big part of what has made the LS1 power plant so respected.
When all is said and done and the dust has settled, it’s pretty difficult to argue with 11.92 @126 MPH… and the LS small block has only just begun to realize its full potential.
