While trucks have been a hot commodity in the performance industry, lowered trucks hit the scene hard in the late 1980s. And while some people, the haters, will argue that it makes the vehicle useless, we have a soft spot in our hearts for them.

In our opinion, lowering a truck doesn’t render it unusable. It just changes the purpose of the vehicle. Granted, you may not be able to haul heavy loads and huge trailers, but you will be able to increase your project’s cornering and stability. Plus, they have an aggressive look that sets a truck apart from the crowd.

If you do a quick image search of MaxTrac Suspension, you will find several lifted trucks of various makes and models. But, this company not only specializes in lifts and leveling kits for pickups and Jeeps, but they also offer lowering kits for Ford, GMC, Chevrolet, and Ram.

Eric Jolly, General Manager of MaxTrac Suspension, owns this killer 2017 Chevy 1500 Silverado. Since he works for the company, it only made sense to show off their products. And instead of going up with its stance, Jolly went the other direction using Max Trac Suspension’s 4/6-inch lowering kit. If you’re not familiar with lowering kits, it’s important to note that “4/6” means the truck will be lowered 4-inches in the front and 6-inches in the rear.

The MaxTrac Suspension lowering kit for the GMC and Chevrolet trucks includes a patented forged aluminum spindle, which keeps the ride close to the factory feel and allows for larger wheels. A 6-inch axle flip kit is also included to level out the vehicle’s stance, rear shocks to help optimize that vehicles’ overall performance, and shock extenders.

Jolly’s truck sits nice and level with the MaxTrac 4/6 drop installed. The ground effects and Billet specialties also help set it apart from the crowd.

Typically, if you are going to lower a truck, you have intentions to modify other components. On the Chevy’s exterior, Jolly added an Air Design body kit, Billet Specialties wheels wrapped in Falken rubber, T-Rex grill, Anzo light kit, and an Undercover bed cover.

While this truck’s outward appearance looks tough, you need to get on the inside to appreciate it. Under the hood sets the factory 5.3 direct-injection engine with an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger and an AFE Cat-Back exhaust system and air intake. When the Silverado gets rolling, Jolly depends on a set of Baer brakes to bring this vehicle to a stop.

The interior of the truck is just as impressive as the exterior. A Roadwire leather and suede seat covers were installed with a set of seat warmers for those cold morning commutes. And to keep Jolly entertained while rolling down the road, he had a full blow through Kicker audio system covering half of the bed and Bedrug.

The Kicker audio system in the bed of the truck has more than enough power to drown out any noise from outside the cab.

Lowered trucks are not for everyone. And while Jolly’s truck might not haul a colossal payload, it’s a clean build that we would love to commute back in forth to work. We’re willing to bet it gets a lot of attention as it rolls down the road from admires and haters alike. Either way, we’re positive it would put a smile on our face.
