Topless C8 Corvette Z06 Spotted Testing In Ohio

Chevrolet learned a long time ago folks who like to drive their Corvettes (including the speedy-er ones) also like to get a little wind in their hair once in a while. Until the C7 variant of the Corvette Z-car came out, all Z06s were fixed-roof hardtops.

This video from Vette Titans, which just appeared on Midenginecorvetteforum.com, clearly shows what is believed to be a pair of C8 Z06s taking a drive through the Ohio countryside. Both cars wear a high wing, and the consensus is they are Z07-spec Corvettes. Beyond that, the speculation continues to rage between when GM will start producing these high-performing drop-tops and whether folks should hold onto their allocations or pick up what is available in the meantime.

In the video, Vette Titans follow these two C8 Corvettes through some amazing roads around the Ohio countryside. The ups and downs, and various undulations give us a good look at the lack of lid from several angles. Perhaps because they knew they were being followed, or maybe they were just doing some drivability testing, but either way, we don’t get to hear much of that flat-plane crankshaft’s characteristic wail.

Throughout the video, you can see the car nearest to the photographer doing some single-lane swerving. This led us to think maybe someone within GM was getting an initial introduction to the car and simply feeling out its steering feel more than its abilities. Hey, we could be wrong too!

Either way, these two C8s drive home the fact that another, higher-performing Corvette is on the way, and as this video clearly shows, one variant of them is definitely going to allow for unrestricted star gazing.
