Last week at the New York International Auto Show, General Motors pulled the covers off of the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS. This car has formed the core of the Cadillac lineup for the past decade or so, and you can bet GM had its hands full trying to up the ante on an already great car. But from what we’ve seen, including the bold new look and twin-turbo V6 engine, GM hit a home run.
Still, we haven’t had a chance to hear the new, 420 horsepower turbocharged V6 in action, until now. This video from GM shows the 2014 Cadillac CTS carving through a road course in wet conditions, and if you listen closely you can hear the new V6 making a whole lot of sweet, sweet noise.
Riding on a stretched version of the new Alpha platform, the 2014 Cadillac CTS has been dialed in to provide a sporty-yet-luxurious ride, much like its forebears. The bold new look at the front end is watered down by a more conservative middle and back, but the overall reaction to the new look for the Cadillac CTS has been overwhelmingly positive.
For any doubters who think the CTS has lost its performance chops, one look at this track video should change some minds. And of course the pressurized six has plenty of punch, while leaving the door open for an even more powerful V version down the road. For now though, the new CTS has already warmed our hearts with this wet track day video, and we find ourselves pining for more footage… and perhaps more engine notes to boot.
