In the world of motorsports, Australia takes a back seat to nobody. So when you see a video titled, “Australia’s Fastest LS1,” it’s reasonable to have high expectations. In this case, there’s no disappointment. Gerry Sarafoglou’s Holden Ute is definitely a beast – we understand that the “car” originally belonged to Steve Petrovski, who pulled elasped times as low as the six-eighties before passing the car along to a series of other drivers.
For such a famous and much-campaigned racecar, details of the build are surprisingly hard to find – we do know that CV Performance is responsible for the power and tune, while the chassis was built by Glenn Davies of GD Racecars. We do know just from looking that it’s one of the largest single turbo setups we’ve ever seen on an LS, though.
In the video, the Ute has an interesting habit staging up on the line; as boost builds, it wags its tail like a housecat getting ready to pounce. The first hit has to be aborted when the tires spin, but we do get to see a clean, quick pass in the end. It’s easy to see why this LS1-powered veteran racecar is so popular down under – despite not exactly being the newest, latest, and greatest, it’s still one heck of a quick, clean ride.
