Chris Harris gets to have fun with a lot of cars that a lot of people won’t get to drive in their lifetime. Lucky for us, he documents all of it on his YouTube Channel.
In Harris’ most recent video, he traveled to Australia to go play with HSV’s LSA-powered Ute, the Maloo GTS. You know how much we love the Holden Commodore HSV GTS; the Maloo GTS is no different. With the exception of a bed and tonneau cover, the Maloo GTS is very similar to the HSV Commodore. From the wheels and brakes, to the interior, to the engine and transmission, it’s all carried over from the Commodore.
Harris didn’t get to drive the ute on the street in his video, but he got plenty of track time. What better place to show off the Maloo GTS’s power than Sydney Motorsport Park? Judging by all the fun Harris was having, this supercharged ute looks like a blast.
The LSA engine belts out 576 horsepower, has humongous brakes, gets from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, and can tow 3,200 pounds. Yes, we like the Maloo GTS a lot! Unfortunately HSV is only making 250 of them. Ten will go to New Zealand and the other 240 will be sold in Australia. The vehicles are numbered as well and will most likely be a hot collector’s item in future years.
Watch the full video to see what Harris thinks about the brute ute from down under. We hope GM comes to their senses and gives the US the ute it’s been waiting for! We’ll settle for the new LT4-powered CTS-V, though.
