Every Corsa exhaust system is similar to a musical instrument. Corsa mufflers are tuned to get the best possible sound out of whatever specific engine it is meant to be used on through their super-cool and definitely patented RSC Technology. In this video from our buddies at Lingenfelter, Rob Forbes Jr. from Corsa gives us a tech rundown on their RSC mufflers, while we get to watch as the the Corsa install team puts one of their Sport Exhaust systems on a modified ZL1 at the Lingenfelter Nationals.

The Corsa install team was on hand at the recent Lingenfelter Nationals, installing systems right on-site.

There are typically two types of sounds waves produced each time an engine fires: high frequency and low frequency. “The high frequency are a straight flow through [in Corsa RSC Mufflers], and that’s the good sound of the engine that everybody likes to hear. Low frequency is drone or interior resonance.” Fobes says.

The RSC mufflers trap the low frequency sounds waves and send them through a maze of passages within the muffler. Eventually the low frequency sound waves will meet back up, this time 180 degrees out of phase, and cancel each other out. The beauty of Corsa’s RSC technology is that by moving around the passages, they can literally tune the exhaust sound of almost any car, just like you would tune an instrument.
