Just when you think you have seen every possible CTS-V build, just search YouTube and you’ll be amazed at the sheer number of badass Caddys. During a recent search of the site, we came across a video posted by the guys at d3cadillac.com of their purpose built D3 Competition Race Car at California Speedway in Fontana, California. According to the description of this video the car was built to test the chassis of the CTS-V. At first viewers are treated to a visual inspection of the body and its’ subsequent enhancements for competition; a larger APR GTC spoiler (similar to the factory racecars) has been added along with larger fender flares in the rear to accommodate the 18×12-inch Forgeline wheels.
This CTS-V produces 1000 horsepower and 960 pound-feet of torque thanks to a Harrop 2300 supercharger and the D3 Supercooler Intercooler System with 20 Gal/Min Fluid Pump. Along with the insane supercharger, the guys over at D3 used the following combination to create gobs of power: a 427 CID short block topped with D3 Stage 3 Competition cylinder heads, D3 Competition valve train and a D3 Competition cam.
All of this power is certain to put the chassis to the test, which is where D3 elected to use KW Variant III Coil Over System and Hotchkis Sway Bars to help in suspension department. After watching the D3 CTS-V tear up the track at California Speedway, it proves that these guys took their challenge of testing the limits of the CTS-V chassis very seriously.
