This latest video from Hennessey Performance exhibits some of their latest handy-work in regards to Chevrolet’s C7 Corvette. The car featured in this clip is a 2015 Corvette Stingray equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission, which you can hear making some explosively quick shifts thanks to the bumper-mounted camera footage.
HPE700 Stingray Upgrade:
• 2.3-liter supercharger system
• High-flow cylinder heads
• HPE700 camshaft
• All necessary gaskets & fluids
• Professional Installation
• HPE engine management calibration
• Dyno tuning & road testing
• Serial-numbered dash & engine plaques
• Hennessey exterior badging
• Hennessey premium floormats
• Hennessey carbon fiber door sills
• 3-year / 36,000-mile limited warranty
Believe it or not, the new 8L90 is a standard, torque-conveyer style transmission and actually lowers both the 0-60 mph and quarter-mile times compared to the manual gearbox thanks to its brisk shifting. While there are several different options available, this particular C7 is wearing Hennessey’s HPE700 kit which reportedly produces 708 hp at 7,300 rpm.
While the 2015 Z06 is a factory-built force to reckoned with, this C7 would be running pretty evenly down the strip thanks to the upgrades. We certainly don’t want to take anything away from the Z06 as it has other strong suits that would far surpass this car… a Z07 equipped version on a road course for example. That being said, this is still an impressive Stingray.
The Stingray is fitted with drag radials for this pass, and puts down an impressive 10.97 second quarter-mile time at over 131 mph. The car also managed to hit 60 mph in 2.9-seconds. Now those are some quick times!
