LSX Cars were very well represented at the 1st Annual Hillbilly Arm Drop Drags.

We recently came across a series of arm-drop-style amateur drag racing videos on YouTube featuring a variety of 4th and 5th Gen Camaros, as well as C5 and C6 Corvettes under the title of “Hillbilly Arm Drop Drags.” Intrigued by what we saw, we decided to dig a bit deeper to find out more about the event.

A quick search through The Google Machine yielded us plenty of info on the event. According to Lexington, Kentucky’s WKYT News Channel 27, “Hillbilly Arm Drop Drags” was held this year for the first time ever at the Coombs Airport, in the small town of Prestonsburg in eastern Kentucky. With a population of just under 4,000, Prestonsburg is located about 250 miles East of Bowling Green, Kentucky where Holley’s LS Fest was held this past weekend.

While the event was certainly no LS Fest, it was reported to be the largest event ever held in the small town of Prestonsburg. Organizers of the shindig told the Floyd County Times that they made up 5,000 wrist bands for the event, and every single one was given out to event spectators. We couldn’t find a specific number of cars that raced in the event, but the Floyd County Times also reports that there were so many racers wanting to participate that they actually had to turn people away.

As you can see from the videos, LSX powered cars were well represented at Hillbilly Arm Drop Drags. Steve Blackburn from Prestonsburg even won the Pure Street Class in his LSA-powered 2010 Cadillac CTS-V.
