Europeans are known for many things – none of them include entering 4th-generation Camaros into a Trans-Am Series hillclimb event. These cars will always remain popular in their native country of the United States, but you don’t hear too much about them running competitively in any race anywhere, other than North America.
So when we ran across this video on Jalopnik about a Camaro from Europe, it sort of caught our attention. The details are slim on this beast, but it’s soundtrack does offer a couple of clues. First off, we can tell that it’s obviously a V8 thanks to it’s throaty roar. But if you listen to it a little closer, you can make out the distinct hint of either a supercharger or a gear drive. We think it’s the latter.
Despite the fact that this Camaro features the LT1-era front styling, we can’t help but think there’s an all-aluminum LS under that hood. It would make sense – our cousins living across the pond can get them just as easily as we can, and since this car was built to handle, the lightweight aluminum design would be perfect for a race car of this type.
This video was shot at the Reitnau and Oberhallau in 2011. So yeah, it isn’t exactly the newest video on YouTube, but we still found it quite interesting and entertaining, regardless. Do any of you have any legitimate information on this car, like where it was built, who put it together, and most importantly, what’s under the hood? If you do, we would love to hear from you!
