Go anywhere these days and you’ll quickly spot at least one base model V6 Camaro. It’s no wonder why. These things have become wildly popular thanks to their retro-modern styling, reasonable price, and yes…even their respectable stock horsepower rating. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that our beloved LS1 4th Gen Camaros came from the factory with about the same amount of horsepower as the V6 5th Gens.
They’ve got decent power to get those big bodies moving, but there are still plenty of gains to be had with typical bolt-ons. In fact, we stumbled across this video on YouTube of our buddies at Vararam installing one of their unique induction systems on a V6 5th Gen Camaro. With their induction system they’ve seen gains as high as 30 horsepower and 30 pound feet of torque to the rear wheels. Anytime we hear about a simple bolt on that can produce those type of gains, we sit up and pay attention.
Vararam started with a clean sheet, and designed a system that can scoop up air as the car is moving, and create a ram-air effect. The design is based around maximizing the flow of the 3.6L’s cross-ram intake manifold, and they even included a MAF that is an integral part of their air box housing.
