Have you ever talked with someone you hadn’t met before on the phone, and when you met them in person they didn’t look anything like what you had imagined? The sound of their voice just didn’t match their face? That’s pretty much the case with the LS1 swapped Nissan 240SX featured in this YouTube Video – only with exhaust sounds, not peoples’ voices of course.
Taking one look at this 240 and you would expect it to sound similar to a weed-whacker when it revs up, but the throaty roar this thing produces on the dyno is identical to that of some good ole modified late-model American muscle. The video caption says that this 240SX now gets its go from an LS1 with ported heads, an LS6 intake manifold, and a decent sized cam. As you can see from the under-car shots in the video, that nasty growl you hear is thanks to a set of long-tube headers and a custom dual exhaust that snakes its way to the original muffler cutout in the rear bumper. The car also has plenty of power to back up all that noise, laying down 422 horsepower and 375 pound feet of torque to the rear tires.
The builder is also sure to make the distinction that this 240 is “not a drift car.” Stay tuned for the end of the video, because it’s pretty safe to say that regardless of whatever this thing does get used for, it flat-out hauls.
