Regular Car Reviews has provided us all with another Corvette behind the wheel video, complete with well timed sarcasm and some colorful jokes… you may not want to watch this one at work. The video starts off with a fun acoustic song stating that every time they get a Corvette to review, it happens to be raining; as it was for the C6 review. Luckily they get a second chance at some dry traction with a different C7 on a sunny day.
An interesting point is made when regarding the somewhat popular comparisons to the European competitors, that while the C7 is faster then some Ferraris and the Aston Martin, it will still never be an Aston Martin. More over, people (clearly those who do not own a Corvette) will still look at the new Stingray as just a Corvette. Depends how you want to judge it in reality, whether prestige and refinement are considered versus looking only at performance statistics, and there is always that window sticker to contend with.
The driver voices a complaint about the door sills being obnoxiously high due to modern side-impact safety standards, yet he seems to be very impressed with the broad power of the LT1. He demonstrates this by smoothly running the Stingray at 40 mph in 7th gear and laughing about the fact that it still pulls while running around 700 rpm.
Another interesting opinion is given by stating there is more difference between a C5 and C7 then exists between the C5 and the C2, followed up with complaints of electronics such as the button activated emergency brake. The Stingray has received some great advances in technology and we are looking forward to what the future holds for the Corvette. If you want a C4, then buy a C4… nothing wrong with that, but at Corvette Online we are happy to see Chevrolet striving for innovation.
