Even if you’re only a casual fan of drifting, you know that one of the most popular cars for the motorsport is Nissan’s 240SX, known by the S13/S14 chassis code. Light weight, rear wheel drive, and cheap, these cars came to the US market with one major flaw – underpowered naturally-aspirated 4 cylinder engines.

Turns out, though, that an LS engine fits just fine between the Nissan’s fenders, and it’s hard to find even a semi-serious drift S13 or S14 that doesn’t have an LS swap. But if stock V8 power is good, then a boosted LS is better yet, right?

The supercharger intake peeks through the hood, letting passers-by get a look at the compressor wheel. We’d bet Mathur gets a lot of “what turbo is that?” questions…

Thanks to our friends at Vortech, we can answer that question with a definitive “yes.” The car you see here, built by Speedzone Performance‘s Vishal Mathur as a rolling example of the shop’s work, packs a supercharged LS sending just shy of 700 horsepower to the pavement. The stock bottom end 5.3 truck motor gets 11 PSI from a V-2 S-Trim Supercharger with A&A Corvette C5 Corvette mounting bracketry and a custom air-to-air intercooler.

One glance and the attention to detail is obvious, extending past the engine bay to the suspension, interior, widebody fenders, and every other aspect of the build. But Mathur isn’t done yet – the next milestone will be replacing the factory long block with a fully built bottom end, and moving up to a V-7 YSi blower for even more boost and horsepower. We can hardly wait!
