Big cube LS engines and boost are always a pretty prime combo for producing some good ET’s at the drag strip. This video from Full Boost was filmed at the “Revhead Rubberfest” held at Heathcote Park, in Knowsley, Australia on March 11th of this year. The star is a Holden VY SS Commodore that packs a 408 cubic inch LS engine that we are told is enhanced by a large single turbo. We don’t get any more specific details on the VY’s combo, but sporting a massive cowl induction hood and a comical license plate, the VY has the attitude to match its power.
The VY’s dinky rear slicks seem to have trouble finding traction, even letting the car break loose and nearly get sideways midway through its first run. After a few more runs with traction issues and a string of decent 1/8 mile runs, the grip finally comes together in the last quarter-mile run of the video and the VY knocks out an impressive 10.38 at 140 miles per hour. That’s not too bad considering that he’s running on slicks that look to be barely wider than his front skinnies, and that this is VY is still a “streeter.” Click here to watch the video for yourself.
